I’ve attached the GPX files for this ride to this post (attachments are only visible if you are logged in).
Here is the ride itinerary – note that the longest distance between gas stops is 151 miles:
Day 1
The ride starts in the Scheel’s parking lot at Legends in Sparks. Kickstands up at 9 AM. The ride to Nixon will be offroad through the Pah Rah Range, and to Gerlach on dirt to the east of the Nightingale Range.
Total trail distance 237 miles, ~90% dirt
Gas: mile 59, mile 136
Lunch: Bruno’s
15,055′ Climbing 14,609′ descending
Camp at Virgin Valley Campground (warm springs, potable water)
Day 2
The ride starts at Virgin Valley Campground, and will go over Domingo Pass into Fields, stop for breakfast at the Fields Cafe, then continue on to the Warner Mountains and Lakeview.
Total trail distance 214 miles, ~95% dirt
Gas: mile 50, mile 191
Breakfast option: Fields Cafe
Lunch option: grab something in Lakeview
14,009′ Climbing 12,950′ descending
Camp at Deep Creek Campground (carry water or filter water from the creek)
Day 3
The ride starts at Deep Creek Campground. A possible breakfast option could be found in Cedarville, which is the first gas stop. The ride will go southeast through the High Rock Canyon Wilderness to return to Gerlach via a different route than the outbound ride. From Gerlach I think an easy cruise back to Sparks around Pyramid Lake on the paved highway would be the best choice after 3 days of hard riding.
Total trail distance 264 miles, ~65% dirt
Gas: mile 47, mile 167
Lunch/dinner option: Bruno’s
11,332′ Climbing 12,741′ descending
Ride finishes at Pyramid Highway and La Posada Avenue (Chevron station)
