I have ridden Reno to Fortuna in a day on 36. The section from Red Bluff to Fortuna is 130+miles and has no gas I believe.
On my DR I can carry a spare can (1.3 gallons). I can bring that and you can strap it on for the ride home if you like. Then you wouldn’t have to haul it up Letts Ridge.
