Donner Ski Ranch has hosted a motorcycle weekend for many years, featuring hill climbs, trials and supermoto races. They even used to have a TT-style road race up old Highway 40 from Donner Lake to the summit at Donner Ski Ranch. I believe in ’99 they had an MX race a couple miles down the road at the Soda Springs ski resort. I did that one – it was super fun with an all-natural course and great dirt. This may be the best dirt-oriented event in our area. Where else can you watch a hill climb event from the deck of a ski lodge?
If they had an MX race I would sign up, but I am going to pass on the XC race. I’m not ready to thrash my bike in rock gardens, ha. Here is the flyer promoting the XC, hard enduro and hill climb events if you are interested though.
