Hey Rick, I meant that you can see the hill climb competition pretty well from the ski lodge. A XC race is not real fan friendly any way you slice it.
With the lead rider 11 minutes ahead of the second place guy it sounds like you must have been watching the hard enduro last year?
The last time I was at the hillclimb competition a friend parked his mountain bike at the edge of the parking lot. A pro hillclimber went up the hill with an open class bike – a multi-cylinder nitrous machine. A rock about the size of a basketball kicked off the top of hill climb, rolled all the way down past chair #1 and flew into his mountain bike. The rock put a huge dent in the top tube and the mountain bike had to be junked. So if you go don’t park your Corvette near the main hill.
