Dean and I reviewed my maps yesterday and this ride is a GO.

Here is a screenshot of the entire route:

The GPX files are attached to this post in a zip archive (only visible to DDMC members). Kickstands up at 8 AM in front of Michael’s Reno Powersports on Saturday, October 7th.

The total distance for this ride is 1121 miles. The two longest days are getting to (stage 1) and returning from (stage 5) the RockyMountain Battle Born North route. Those days do feature some tarmac, so the distance should not be unreasonable. However, if any riders want to cut down on the distance for day 1 and day 5 you can add an extra day before and after the ride and stay in the hotel in Middlegate Station, which is on our route. Dean is planning to do that. Dean may also leave a trailer at Middlegate Station in case a bike needs a rescue. I will be riding the entire route from and returning to Reno.

Hotels in Battle Mountain, Wendover and Eureka should not be a problem. There are limited options in Jarbidge, but I just called there and found out that the Outside Inn currently has 6 rooms available for October 8th and The Barn has 10 rooms available.

This route will be pretty rugged – not a problem on a dual sport but more challenging on a bigger adventure bike. There are bail-outs throughout this ride, although if a rider can’t handle the trail to Jarbidge the only option might be to backtrack to Battle Mountain and then meetup again in Wendover.

I will add the section mileages and distance to gas in a follow-up post.
