We ran across this herd of sheep – probably more than 200 on each side of the trail – on the route north. They were protected by a half dozen basque sheep dogs and a couple shepherds. The sheep dogs appeared to move the sheep off the trail, then set up a perimeter for us to pass through. They encouraged us not to stop, ha. Those sheep dogs must have a heck of a job watching the herd at night when the coyotes are out.
