The Kawasaki KLX300 is a popular model for DDMC riders. Its low price, decent performance, and ability to not break down in remote northeast Nevada are definite pluses.
You could also argue that the late-model Kawasaki KLX300 is a superior motorcycle to its biggest competitor, the Honda CRF300. The specs and performance between the Kawi and Honda are pretty close, other than suspension. The Kawi has much better suspenders on both ends – fully adjustable and with better springs and damping from the factory. However, the Honda has often been given the nod against the Kawi in magazine comparison tests because it has more modern, attractive styling.

I was a little concerned about that when I got my KLR too. There were rumors Kawi might introduce a KLX550. I really like my KLR – it’s great on the street. However if a fuel injected big-bore KLX was available that would have been hard to pass up.
