    Unfortunately, the upper entrance to the High Rock Wilderness was closed. The trail may have been washed away last winter. I decided to backtrack to the main trail that goes through Leadville Canyon to Gerlach. Maybe we’ll ride out to High Rock this winter instead from the east.

    I got back to Gerlach at around 5 PM. The waitress at Bruno’s filled my Camelback with Coke and ice for only $2, which I thought was totally awesome after riding through the desert. It sure felt great to see Pyramid and head home!
