I’ve been planning to get back into MX and realized eating cheeseburgers and lifting a dumbbell once in a while wasn’t the best fitness plan. So now that the weather is getting better I’ve been on the mountain bike quite a bit. On Tuesdays and Thursdays after work I have been riding up the Old Toll Road from Reno to where it connects with Highway 341 near Geiger Summit. The “trail” is actually just a beat up jeep road, but it has a steady climb – 1,500 vertical feet in 3.5 miles. The ride is not long or technical, it’s just good cardio. Short ‘n sweet.
I start pedaling at 7:15 on Tuesday and Thursday nights. I have lights on my MTB in case it gets dark on the ride down. I know riding so late is odd but it will make sense once daytime temps get into the mid-90s.
