Greg RParticipantI was planning to ride my neighborhood trails tomorrow afternoon, but…your Chickadee Drive venue is a definite maybe, instead.
I’ll see if I can rejigger my schedule….likely I’d stay only stay for three hours max.
The aerial maps suggests that it is dirt bike territory. Are you expecting to include any street riding…or just off-road?
I’d prefer practice drills on my dirt bike (Kawasaki 300R = 275 lbs) rather than my dual sport (DR650 = 350 lbs).
I’ll post a follow-up either way.

ParticipantGreg,
It’d be great to see you there! Don’t sweat the duration. Tomorrow is a busy day.
I’d bring the KLX300. We’ll be in an OHV area so that will be your best bet in my opinion. The roads are all dirt. I’ll be bringing a few cones to help with our flat cornering.

Greg RParticipantCool! I’ll be there by 10:30 (Jeep Wrangler towing a 3-bike trailer). DUDE….let’s kill some cones!
My 300R will be the ride for tomorrow (my DR is prep’d for Dave’s ride on Saturday).

ParticipantI saw this post a bit late, but if I can swap tires on my 390R in a reasonable amount of time (2 hours) I’ll come out to ride with you guys!

Greg RParticipantOh no…we all (me, Dave & Jason) were headed toward home around 12:30. I was rolling south down Lemmon & saw a KTM heading north, with the rider wearing a highlighter yellow T-shirt with print on the back that looked suspiciously like the DDMC logo. That was you!

ParticipantIt was a good couple of hours. Did lots of flat turns, then figure eights, also power slide/pivot turns. Then we took a short ride to practice on sand . Good times!

Greg RParticipantThanks Jason!
Those trails had non-stop whoops, and there was sand everywhere (good spot to practice sand riding).
Here is a short video of Jason & Dave showing how its done on the figure-eight layout.

ParticipantMan, I wish that KTM rider you saw had been me…I didn’t finish swapping tires out until about 2pm 😅 the videos all make it seem fairly straightforward, but it took me around 1.5-2 hours to change ONE tire (that’s the whole process, from removal from the bike, changing the tire, balancing, and reinstalling). Good to know that location has a bunch of sand, good practice for me. Glad you guys got some solid training in! Hopefully I’ll be ready for the next round

ParticipantGreg that’s crazy! You are a better man than I. If you have time during the week, not sure of your schedule, and you want to burn a few hours let me know 502-553-8112. I’ll go with you.

ModeratorThat is great that you set this up Jason, and also great that other riders jumped on this. Way to go, guys!
I was busy Sunday but I rode some tight turn tracks at Track Town on Saturday. Track Town is a few miles north of Chickadee Drive, in the North Reno Recreation Area.
Truth be told, working on your skills is not actually work. It’s way too fun to be called work.

ParticipantKurt, you’ll have to drop a pin in this chat for Track Town. I’d like to know where that is.

Here ya go: Track Town
It actually shows up in Google Maps as “HRG Track Town” (no idea what “HRG” is).
Track Town is close to the Range Lands entrance to the North Reno Recreation Area, which is off Winnemucca Ranch Road.

ParticipantThanks Kurt!
Greg F and I got together at Chickadee yesterday afternoon. Greg got the new Tractionator tires on his KTM390. We did some sand riding, turning drills, rut riding and then just did some laps on the different tracks. It was a good couple hours.
