Radiyya FontaineParticipantThanks for the warm welcome, an opportunity to evaluate my off road skills (they suck), a chance to practice evasive pee-in-the-woods strategies (also a major failure), and all around fantastic ride.
I’m battered and bruised but certain I didn’t break ribs.
My bike took the bullet for me: bark busters ‘roughened up’, handlebar bent, brake pedal thrashed.
We’ll make it home after a couple days recuperating here in a airb&b and butt loads of Tylenol/Motrin.
Thanks again to the help down the ascent and exceedingly kind comment that my street tires and gear ratio contributed to my crashes. But I take it to heart: part of being a rider is choosing the right gear, tires, and bike for the ride. Oops.October 4, 2026 at 3:37 pm #8355
RandyParticipantThe Reno-Deano Fall Colors Ride was a great success. Fourteen Dust Devils members and guests met at the Boomtown Chevron for a scenic 70-mile day in the Sierras.
The Bull Fire proved to be no obstacle. Aside from a little smoke in the area at the start of the ride, conditions were good, and the group made excellent time—arriving in Sierraville for lunch right at noon. It was especially great to have several new members join us for the ride.
Everyone had a terrific time enjoying the roads, fall scenery, lunch, and camaraderie. The only mishap of the day came when Radiyya took a tumble, but she was able to get back up and continue riding—true Dust Devil spirit.
We wrapped up the day by meeting at Chop 40 in Verdi for refreshments and stories from the road.
A big thank-you to Dennis for scouting the Bull Fire and smoke conditions early that morning and giving the group the all-clear to proceed. Great ride, great company, and another successful Reno-Deano Fall Colors Ride.

ParticipantBig thanks to Randy for leading both the Friday and Saturday rides. I think we had 6 or so participate both days, many new faces for each!
