DDMC BBQ and SMX Final Watch Party, September 23, 2023

I was planning to ride down to LA to watch the SuperMotocross (SMX) Final live at the LA Coliseum on September 23rd, but doing that ride would put me short on the vacation days I need to do the DDMC Epic Northern Nevada Dual Sport Ride in early October.

So how about a club BBQ at my house instead to watch the SMX Final?

I’ve got a big patio BBQ area, a 75″ big screen, indoor seating for 17 and outdoor seating for 8 more (as long as it isn’t raining).

For the BBQ I will have burgers, kielbasa, hot links, side dishes and a dessert. I’ll have some Michelob Ultra or BYOB.

DDMC members and their significant others are invited – although 15-20 guests would be about the max I can accommodate. If you don’t like to watch motocross feel free to come for the BBQ and hang out with (or get to know) your fellow club members.

My address is 2108 Musselshell Court in Sparks, which is close to Spanish Springs. The SMX Final is a night race (7-10 PM) so plan on showing up between 6 and 6:30, before the first gate drops.

Please post up here so I have an idea on how much BBQ to have ready. I hope to see you on Saturday night, September 23rd!

I don’t think you need to bring anything other than beer or other beverage of your choice. We will have Michelob Ultra, fruit juice and Coke Zero, so if those work you won’t need to bring anything.

For those interested in the racing, the first two rounds of the SMX playoffs are in the books.

Chase Sexton (USA) and Jo Shimoda (JAP) won round 1 in Charlotte.
Jett Lawrence (AUS) and Hunter Lawrence (AUS) won round 2 in Chicago.

No one has clinched anything. The 450 and 250 titles and big bucks payouts are up for grabs this Saturday night at the final in LA. =^)

Maura and I want to thank everyone who came to the DDMC BBQ and SMX watch party!

James and Silva brought a couple of friends from the Bay Area, Dan and Kristen. Bonus points to Dan and Kristen for riding all the way up to Reno for Street Vibrations – Dan on a ’73 Shovelhead even.

Dean came with Kim, and Eric and Deanna arrived right behind them. Wayne arrived on his trusty Beemer.

The SMX racing was really good with some long shot winners. There was definitely some real emotion on display with the Deegan family after the 250 final.

In non-racing action, Dan was victorious in our half time games, although both James and Silva gave him a run for his money.

Dean and Kim both correctly predicted the winners of the final motos. Well played Dean and Kim.
