Kurt138ModeratorHey wait a minute Deano, I already recruited Paul to drag race Big Red. Did you sweeten the pot behind my back! Should be good fun.
DennisPaul could ride both bikes if we put him on opposite sides of the bracket. To prevent a Paul versus Paul final someone would have to beat him on either the ‘Berg or Dennis’ Big Boy XR.

Daniel FaulknerParticipantThis is a ride I’ve been pondering for a while. Im down to join. How likely is Brunos to fill up? Never stayed there.
I followed Johnny Campbell’s playbook in building my XRR. He claims his was good for 105mph in the dezert…

ParticipantI have also been pondering this sort of ride, or at least something out at the Black Rock Desert. Have yet to make it out there since moving to Reno three years ago, and now that I’ve postponed hip surgery I can join on this ride!

Bruno’s is pretty big – 40 rooms.
We will be there well after the last Burner has gone, so the “Country Club” will probably only have a half dozen miners and tourists staying there.
Yeah, your XRR will definitely be hard to beat in the drag race…

Kurt138ModeratorHas anyone tried High Rock Pizza?
For Sunday morning, the Miner’s Club has a breakfast sandwich that looks pretty good, plus it opens earlier than Bruno’s. Who knew there were options in Gerlach? =^)

Kurt138ModeratorHey guys,
A prospective rider wanted to know if it is OK to park their truck overnight at Bully’s.
I checked with Bully’s and they said they would never call on a vehicle parked overnight there. There is plenty of parking in Eagle Landing Plaza, there are even a couple of dirt lots next to businesses there.
However, if anyone wants to be sure their rig will be safe come and park near my house – there is plenty of street parking in my neighborhood and zero crime.
My address is 2108 Musselshell Court, Sparks, 89436 – that is 1.5 miles from Bully’s. My house is in a cul-de-sac with limited parking, but the cross streets have plenty of parking.

Greg RParticipantKurt, thanks for the information…good to know. I plan to go on the ride and am booked at Bruno’s.
I was thinking about event logistics and may stash my rig on one of your side streets.

Kurt138ModeratorPre-running is almost done, I will post tracks for this ride next weekend.
I just need to check out a couple more trails, but I already think you guys are going to like this route!
UPDATE: I had a couple last-minute changes and didn’t get the tracks completed this weekend. I’ll post the tracks tonight or tomorrow though.

Kurt138ModeratorI’ve attached the A route tracks for this ride to this post. There are separate tracks for the outbound and the return journeys, so grab them both.
The A route has a DDMC ride ranking of A-. There will be plenty of sandy single track on Saturday, and steep climbs and descents both Saturday and Sunday.
The outbound A route from Sparks to Gerlach is 134.7 miles, with most of the harder riding in the North Reno Recreation Area, AKA Moon Rocks. After Moon Rocks the rest of the ride is relatively easy two track. The outbound route will skirt the Nightingale Range but cross the Selenite Mountains into Empire. There is gas in Nixon at mile 60, and the longest distance to gas is 75 miles.
The return A route from Gerlach to Sparks is 157.6 miles. The return route will climb up into the Nightingale Mountains and also traverse a viewful peak in the Pah Rah Mountains on the west side of Pyramid Lake. The return route won’t go through Moon Rocks. There is gas at Nixon at mile 104, which is also the longest distance to gas.
Here is a general outline of the A route:
