Dave and Kurt will be co-hosting a DDMC camp & ride in Stonyford from June 19th-21st.
The Stonyford OHV Area is part of the Mendocino National Forest. Stonyford is a mecca for northern California offroad riders, but there are so many trails there it is still easy to disappear for hours.
The main area has “over 200 miles of some of the most enjoyable and challenging OHV routes in the nation”. You can also connect from the Stonyford OHV Area to the Upper Lake OHV Area via the “Mendocino OHV Corridor”.
There is a great variety of trails there ranging from easy to hard, including single track. Elevations vary from 1,700 feet (at Fouts Springs) to almost 6,000 feet (near Goat Mountain). The terrain is less rocky than the Pine Nuts or the Tahoe NF. Big enduro events are held in the Stonyford OHV area in October and November.
I think there are 11 OHV campgrounds in Stonyford, but for large campers the best choice is to camp at Davis Flat Campground. To get a good spot I would recommend getting there early on Friday the 19th. Davis Flat is located 9.5 miles west of Stonyford on Road 18N03.

Good find Andres. I’ll have a look at those tracks.
Do you happen to have any tracks from the Jackhammer?
BTW, the D36 event that Andres has tracks for will be on 11/22 this year, so it won’t conflict with our planned club ride on 6/19-6/21. There is nothing in the D36 calendar for our dates in Stonyford.

Awesome – congrats on winning the Lil’ Hammer. I’m looking forward to riding some single track!
We should have enough tracks from the enduros that we can just ride the Bearfoot, Lil’ Hammer and Jackhammer that weekend. Or at least try.

Hey, if anyone is interested in this ride but does not like camping, it is possible to hotel it (though not easy). There are decent hotel options in Willows and in Williams. Both locations are about 90 minutes from where the rides will stage in Fouts Springs. It might be worth it to do the Friday ride, hotel it in Willows, then come back to Fouts Springs for the longer Saturday ride, then return home.

Eric and I have been looking into camping options with the idea to avoid Davis Flat if possible. Davis Flat can be noisy and dusty.
I think we will try Diversion Dam Campground first (about 5 paved miles from the trailhead), and if that is not available we will try Fouts Springs Campground. If Fouts Springs is full we could synch up and perhaps consider dispersed camping somewhere else.
We are planning to get there around mid-day on the 19th, and whoever gets there first will try to snag the best possible camp site. Eric had cell signal there when he did the Sheetiron last month so if you can’t find us call Eric.

Well darn it, I have a conflict on Sunday the 21st, so I will only be able to ride Friday the 19th and Saturday the 20th.
I have to take my wife to SF on Sunday the 21st so I am going to have to break camp on Saturday night.
Is anyone else planning on doing this ride, is it just me, Dave and Eric?
