Eric Larsen
ModeratorHey Kurt, according to the placard behind Spanish Springs Highschool, there is a OHV route through the reservation. This information was posted July of 2025.

RenoDeanoParticipantI will have to meet you guys out at Moon Rocks, since my Beta does not have the gas range for a long ride.

Kurt138ModeratorI will look at Eric’s map and try to confirm if there is an approved route through tribal land to get to Moon Rocks. That would certainly be better than 10 miles of pavement to get there. I haven’t had time to work on maps yet, but I’ll make time soon.
Thanks for the suggestions Eric and Dean!

Hey Dean, I haven’t completed the map, but I will keep the total distance at or below 80 miles. Your Beta should be able to do 80 miles on one tank, right?

I will update the map to use the OHV route through tribal land. I also checked with the Happy Valley tribal police and they said it is OK to use the OHV pass-through, just don’t speed or ride off the main road on their land. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Kurt138ModeratorI updated my map in the first post in this thread using info from Dave’s RSIC map.
It is an easy cruise out to the OHV area and then the ride will get a lot more fun.
I’ll attach a GPX file to the first post in this thread after I do some route checks.

Kurt138ModeratorI did some pre-running on the route yesterday and made a short preview video:
I would have shot more video from Moon Rocks but my phone battery was low.Conditions were very good on the trail. It is still pretty cold out there though, so I might shorten up the route a bit.

Kurt138ModeratorI finalized the route and attached a GPX file to the first post in this thread.
Trail conditions in Moon Rocks are great right now and we should be looking at low 60s and sunny next Saturday.

Kurt138ModeratorHey guys, if you are not interested in the A- route to get to Moon Rocks Reno Deano will be trailering a few bikes and staging in Moon Rocks at “Track Town”. So far I believe only myself, Paul and Eric will be doing the A- route to Moon Rocks. Once we get to Moon Rocks we will meet up with Dean at Track Town for lunch.
Dean will also be leading one or two new riders around Moon Rocks – there are nearly unlimited trails there. If you are a newer rider and would like to experience Moon Rocks you could head out on Saturday and hook up with Dean.

ParticipantReno Deano, around what time would you be arriving at the Track Town staging area?
Depending on my Saturday schedule, I might be interested in trailering my dirt bike up there to meet up and ride around Moon Rocks with ya’ll.
Per Google Maps, it looks like Track Town is at the south end of Moon Rocks across from 2 Forty Road at Winnemucca Ranch Road…correct?

Hey Greg, you are correct about the location of Track Town. However, the closest entrance to Track Town is via the Range Land Road turnoff from Winnemucca Ranch Road. 2 Forty Road does not go through into the OHV area.
