Greg RParticipantThis ride looks interesting but a bit challenging for me as a dual sport newbie.
The distance and ride time exceed my current dual sport seat time experience, which maxes out at 2 hours…could result in my blowing a mental gasket or having a motor skill seizure of some sort!
Would it be bad form to me to ride just the first segment to 95A and then loop back by myself on Ft. Churchill Road?
Who knows, I might Man-Up on ride day and go the whole way on my DR650.

Hey Greg, we heard you and shortened up this ride quite a bit by moving the start and end to Davis Station. Here is a a Google Maps location for the trailhead: 39.284523, -119.241695
The round-trip distance for the entire ride on the B- route is now a more manageable 156 miles.

Daniel FaulknerParticipantAnybody else gonna jump in on this ride? Thinking dezert conditions may be really good.

ParticipantI’m absolutely down to do this ride. That Middlegate burger is not to be missed. Probably gonna do the B- ride with my KTM 390 Adv R – it could totally do the B+, I just don’t know if I could 😛

Kurt138ModeratorYesterday Chris and I pre-ran the trails between Dayton and HWY 95A ALT.
The B+ route from Dayton to HWY 95 ALT is very good – it only needs a couple of minor route corrections. I’m glad we rode it because I consider it to be a great alternative to riding Fort Churchill Road between the same two points. Fort Churchill Road is not much fun 7 days of the week.
We also attempted to ride the B- route from HWY 95A ALT to Dayton along the Carson River, but it has multiple locked gates. The locked gates are not on any maps that I could find. Chris and I worked around the first locked gate but a reasonable workaround for the second locked gate could not be found. If you downloaded the B- route that I originally had attached to the first post in this thread go ahead and delete it, it is junk.
The other big news is that we moved the trailhead for this ride to the junction of HWY 95 ALT and Simpson Road. Here is a Google Maps location for the trailhead: 39.284523, -119.241695. This change will make the ride better for everyone – let’s get out into the dez and enjoy some sand riding.
I updated the B+ and B- routes – they are attached to the first post in this thread.
I hope to see you out there next Saturday!

I’m charging my helmet cam so I can get some action video following you guys out in the dez!
BTW, if anyone needs help with bike transport out to Davis Station I’ve got room for one more in my truck.

ParticipantKurt, is the ride scheduled for March 14? An earlier post in February said “one week away”- confusing. Trying to arrange my schedule for this Saturday, do you know how many riders are planning to join?
Hope to join you, Jeff

Hey Jeff, the ride is scheduled for 9 AM on Saturday, March 14th at Davis Station. That was a typo in an earlier post.
I don’t know how many riders will be showing up for this. A lot of riders don’t post to the Forum but do show up for the rides.

ParticipantHad a great day. Love the sand , rocks, rolling fast roads. Mud was included but not my forte. It’s great riding with everyone. Thanks to the ride leaders, and the cool Middlegate station. Doug Olson
