ModeratorMoon Rocks has single track trails cross-crossing the big hills on Warm Springs and Dogskin mountains and you can connect one to another directly or via a short hop on a whooped out jeep trail. We had a pretty good success record on hill climbs, although some needed 2 attempts and some we only tried to go halfway up. You tend to find rocks as you climb, so a few of the peaks were adorned with small rock gardens on top. That type of climb is good training for balance and clutch and throttle control.
I managed to get a few ‘action’ shots of one of the tricky sections with scattered rocks and roots.
You can see Mark picking out the rut on the right here in action shot #1:

ModeratorHere is a pic of Mark and Dean on a high peak with a view to the north catching a piece of Pyramid lake. From here Dean rode back home on dirt. Mark and I continued riding single track in a more or less clockwise loop around the OHV area until we got worn out. After a lunch break we rode a few laps on a sandy turn track. The turn track was half perfect berms, half washed out flat turns – very fun and a little tricky.
We only saw a few people in the areas we rode, I think there were more mustangs there than other riders. We called it a day at around 3 and rode back to town on the highway.
The DDMC schedule is pretty full for May, but I will try to post up another impromptu ride here in Moon Rocks later this month. Thanks for checking out the RR!

ParticipantHere is a Goggle Pic Album with all the photos and vids. Thanks for leading the ride Kurt. Enjoyed the ride, but my old body called it quits after a couple of hours of your torture.
