Reno-Deano Fall Colors Ride | Oct 3rd

The annual Reno-Deano Fall Colors Ride is set for October 3. All skill levels are welcome, and plated ADV and dual-sport motorcycles are encouraged. The ride is open to DDMC members and their guests.

Join us for a scenic, approximately 70-mile route through the Sierras. The ride will be primarily on dirt roads that are generally in good condition; however, riders should expect a few limited sections with loose and embedded rock, as well as some rutting. A GPX file is attached.

We also have a couple of optional, more challenging segments available, including Babbitt Peak and the Ole Trestle route near Little Truckee. Whether these routes are included will depend on rider interest and conditions on the day of the ride. If turnout is large, we may break into smaller groups, potentially including a group for riders interested in the optional tracks.

Ride Details

• Meet: 9:30 a.m. at Chevron Boomtown in Verdi

• Lunch: Sierraville

• Finish: Chop 40 in Verdi for refreshments and stories from the road

The Reno-Deano Fall Colors Ride is a proud DDMC tradition, started by our longest-active member, Dean Chaney. Many of you know Dean and appreciate his many contributions to DDMC and his longstanding support of dual-sport riding.

Just a reminder that the annual Reno-Deano Fall Colors Ride is coming up on October 3. This is a great DDMC tradition and a perfect opportunity to enjoy the fall colors, Sierra backroads, and good company.

The ride is open to DDMC members and their guests. All skill levels are welcome, with plated ADV and dual-sport motorcycles encouraged. The route is approximately 70 miles and is primarily on generally well-maintained dirt roads, although there are a few short sections with loose or embedded rock and some rutting. The GPX file is attached for anyone who would like to review the route in advance.

For riders looking for a little more challenge, we may include optional segments at Babbitt Peak and the Ole Trestle route near Little Truckee. Participation in these sections will depend on rider interest, conditions, and turnout. If we have a larger group, we may split into smaller riding groups, including a group for those interested in the optional tracks.

The Reno-Deano Fall Colors Ride is still on for Saturday, October 3.

Because of the Bull Fire situation and possible smoke impacts, we may need to adjust the planned meetup and route based on conditions Saturday morning. Dennis will drive to Verdi tomorrow morning and assess the situation at approximately 6:30 a.m. Check for any updates at the DDMC club ride forum and FB page.

Earlier this morning Dennis drove to the trailhead (thanks Dennis) and confirmed that there are no access limitations for where we intend to stage and ride. We are ‘green for go’ with the plan as is…meet at Boomtown Chevron and clutches out at 9:30.Randy
