ModeratorJust saw that Randy. Bummer.
Eric, I have always hotel-ed in Williams on the Friday night but a lot of people did the campout. The club keeps a bunch of members there through the weekend and they keep an eye on everyones stuff.

ModeratorHey Eric,
Just to tack on to what Dave wrote, I have camped in the Fouts Springs/Davis Flats areas several times. That is right in the center of the Stonyford Recreation Area, which is a few miles west of the little town of Stonyford. It is an excellent place for a ride weekend, with plenty of long hill climbs and technical single track, and is a major draw for people coming from the Bay Area. Races are held there too. I had friends who were enduro fanatics and I rode the Jackhammer Enduro up there with them 3 or 4 times.
On the flip side the area was closed for several years after the 2018 Mendocino Complex Fire and again this year due to heavy rains and snow. I don’t think you can really count on it being open for riding every year. Anyway, once the snow clears there are great single track trails close to Reno in the Tahoe and Plumas National Forests. Or I should say, if the snow clears this year.
BTW, here is the Sheet Iron cancellation announcement from the Oakland MC: https://oaklandmc.org/sheetiron-300?ss_source=sscampaigns&ss_campaign_id=641e4772f6e7aa5d37592f84&ss_email_id=641e510f60ec333286fd99a8&ss_campaign_name=Sheetiron+300+Dualsport+2023+Canceled&ss_campaign_sent_date=2023-03-25T01%3A40%3A37Z

ParticipantThere is soo much riding around the Reno area; surprised no one is willing to plan rides anymore. What’s going on?
Is it because new members do not know how? Are afraid to?
I have some ready to go, but looking for some new routes.

ParticipantI’ve been planning a trip east to Sheckler Reservoir, but I’m waiting for the trees to turn green.

Eric, you can camp at Stonyford’s fairgrounds (primitive RVs or Tent Camping)

I will not be in the area from May to July, but on return will be posting some rides in Nevada.
