I went back to Dog Valley Thursday for more frustration. I tried to go over Peavine, but I had to turn around at the top. Some of the mud on the roads is drying up, but there is still plenty of it. The streams are running fast, but not enough to stop me. I was turned around by snow several times (see red arrows on map). Dog Valley rd. from Henness Pass Junction is open to the reservoirs. Also, once again my feet were soaked all day. All in all, it was a great day of riding.
I recognize the stream in picture #2 . Every time I have crossed it it has had a lot less water in it though, ha.
Good to know that Dog Valley Road is rideable to the reservoirs. There is a route I would like to do after the reservoirs that passes by Webber Lake. The route includes a water crossing that in normal years is about 18″ deep even in August. It might be twice that deep this August!
