ModeratorI’m in. I will be bringing a KX250 this time, so I’ll just be riding the trails in the OHV area.
There is a lot more than just the OHV area there, however. For those with plated dual sports or adventure bikes, you can ride through the Panamint Mountains to Death Valley from Spangler Hills.
Dave, Wayne and I did that a couple years ago, with a stopover in Beatty. I also tried a new route there last year – here are some pics from that ride: Spangler Hills to Death Valley
If you have an unplated enduro and an adventure bike, bring both of them!

ParticipantSounds good but no mud lakes this time!

ModeratorYou could probably drive a ski boat on that lake right now, ha.

ParticipantI’m in. I’m assuming we are trucking our bikes down? Also, I’m up for camping or hotel. Great pics Kurt.
If anyone wants to share a ride let me know. I will be taking my truck and sleeping in the camper. I have a small trailer for the bikes.
Also, I plan to stay in a hotel Sunday night.

ParticipantI am in and can hardly wait to get out of here. May go down earlier than the scheduled dates and stay a bit longer.

ModeratorHey Eric – yeah, we always truck the bikes down. It is a scenic drive down 395 south but in early March it could still be snowy or cold until reaching Bishop. Conway Summit is over 8,000′. Dean and Wayne have campers, while Dave and I usually put up tents. I hope you can make it!

ModeratorI’m thinking maybe a day trip Saturday or Sunday from Wagon Wheel to the Barker Ranch. Not technical. It’s about 75 miles each way. Gas in Trona. The Trona Pinacles are on the way.

ModeratorNice idea Dave – I’ll ride to the Pinnacles with you. Since I will be unplated I don’t think I’ll be able to get to Ballarat, but maybe?

ModeratorWe might be able to work a dirt route from Trona to the Ballarat turnoff. There’s a dir road parallel to the hwy for most of it.
I’ll take a look at the maps.February 1, 2023 at 4:03 pm #1801RenoDeano

Here is a brochure for Splanger Hills. I hope to lead a ride to “The Joint” in Randsburg for lunch one of the days.

ParticipantKurt & Dave, since I am going down a day early can you provide me with a GPS location of where we should camp? Many trails and areas in the Wagon Wheel area. Also, what is a good road from Ridgecrest to take to get to the camp area? Dean
