Tahoe NF Trail 17E19 Cleanup, September 20th

Hey guys,

I believe there was noticeable trail damage in only one place during last Saturday’s RR200.

That damage was on trail 17E19, which starts near the east end of Prosser Dam. There were some logjams on this trail during the RR200 and some riders went off trail.

I am planning to go out there this Sunday to get the trail back into good shape. I think there is only noticeable damage in the first half mile along this trail.

If you would like to help out bring work gloves and a rake or shovel. Note that this work is voluntary, I might even be able to get the trail looking decent all by myself in a couple of hours.

I am planning to park very close to the 17E19 trailhead here, but you could also park at the east end of Prosser Dam and walk the short distance to the trailhead. UPDATE: crossing the dam is intended for OHVs, but I think it is OK for a truck to cross. If not, it is a short walk across the dam.

Awesome Greg, I’d love the help!

I’ll bring a rake, a shovel and a pickaxe.

I am thinking the job may not be that hard. We could be just moving some rocks that got rooted up from the center of the trail off to the sides and tidying up any off-trail excursions.

Greg Flaig and I got out to Lloyd’s Trail (17E19) today and did some work to restore the trail to its original condition.

The main trail for the most part was not damaged, most of the damage occurred due to riders going off-trail.

I didn’t get everything we did on video but here are some cleanup highlights:

I think the trail should return to pristine condition once we get a little rain.

BTW, I reached out to Truckee Dirt Riders on this work and they approved it. The Truckee Dirt Riders do a lot of the trail maintenance in eastern Nevada County.
